The recent Chrome update has caused some users to experience issues using their Show and View buttons. If you use the Chrome 42 browser and also Glance for Salesforce "Show" or "View" buttons, please follow the steps below.
Verify your Google Chrome version
To verify your Google Chrome version, first open the drop-down menu and select "About Google Chrome".
After you select "About Google Chrome", a window will open that displays the information about the Chrome version you are using.
You are logged into Salesforce.com through Google Chrome 42 and need to host a session from any of the following objects: Lead, Contact, Case, Opportunity or Marketing campaign. When you select either "Show" or "View".....
A new web page opens telling the User to download Glance.
The User downloads Glance. However, the session does not start. The download / install message keeps appearing, even though the User has already installed Glance.
Glance for Salesforce uses a NPAPI plug-in to let chrome know whether Glance is already installed on a User's computer. Version 42 of Chrome (released 21 April 2015) no longer supports by default the NPAPI standard for Plug-ins.
There are two options to temporary resolve the issue.
Log into Salesforce.com using a browser other then Google Chrome 42 (for example, Internet Explorer, Safari or Firefox).
Re-enable the NPAI support in Chrome Version 42+ by following the steps below:
- In Chrome address bar, type chrome://flags/#enable-npapi. If you have Chrome Version 42+, the "Enable NPAPI" feature appears.
- Click "Enable" (see image below).
The link changes to Disable and its section is no longer grayed out. At the bottom of the page, click the "Relaunch Now" button
Chrome re-launches. Glance for Salesforce.com will now work normally.
